Gun Safety Course & Operation Classes

The Hub has Lakeside’s best indoor shooting range and gun safety training. If you are a regular visitor, shooting range memberships are available. Additionally, The Hub’s concealed carry weapon (CCW) and firearm safety training classes allow you to practice real-world concealed carry situations. These classes cover important information that helps keep you and your family safe.

ARIZONA CCW CLASSES

Requirements: You must be 21 years old and able to load and unload your firearm safely. You also need to possess minimum shooting skills. If you are a beginner, we recommend taking one of our 101 classes before completing a CCW class.

OUR CLASSES INCLUDE:

HANDGUN 101

PRICE: $85 | DURATION: 5 HOURS | MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE: 12 | PREREQUISITE: NONE

This class covers safe gun handling, types of handguns and their features/functions, loading/unloading, an introduction to the fundamentals of marksmanship, cleaning, and safe storage. At the conclusion of the course, you will take a skills test. Passing this is required to advance to next-level courses.

A ladies-only version of this course is also available.

GEAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Concealed carry or home defense handgun
  • At least 2 magazines
  • Case/box or range bag
  • Eye protection
  • Electronic hearing protection
  • Minimum of 75 rounds of training ammunition
  • Note-taking material
  • A desire to learn and develop your skills

HANDGUN 103

PRICE: $110 | DURATION: 5 HOURS | MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE: 12 | PREREQUISITE: PASSING HANDGUN 101 SKILLS TEST

This advanced introductory class covers gun safety, the fundamentals of marksmanship, an introduction to identifying and clearing malfunctions, multiple target engagements, an introduction to dynamic defensive drills, reload drills, and an introduction to the defensive handgun fighting mindset. The class will conclude with a skills test and passing is necessary to attend more advanced courses.

A ladies-only version of this course is also available.

  • At least 2 magazines
  • Case/box or range bag

  • Electronic hearing protection
  • Minimum of 150 rounds of training ammunition

PISTOL-MOUNTED OPTICS 1

NEW RED DOT SHOOTER CLASS

PRICE: $110 | DURATION: 5 HOURS | MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE: 12 | PREREQUISITE: NONE

This class includes a classroom introduction to red dot pistol concepts, zeroing, body mechanics, occluded sight drills, rapid dot acquisition drills, multiple target engagement drills, parallax drills, and reload and malfunction drills. It concludes with a skills test and passing this is necessary to advance to next-level courses.

GEAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Concealed carry or home defense handgun with red dot sight already mounted
  • At least 2 magazines
  • Case/box or range bag
  • Eye protection
  • Electronic hearing protection
  • Minimum of 150 rounds of training ammunition
  • Note-taking material
  • A desire to learn and develop your skills

HANDGUN 201/ESSENTIAL DEFENSIVE CARRY

PRICE: $175 | DURATION: 7 HOURS | MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE: 10 | PREREQUISITE: PASSING HANDGUN 103 SKILLS TEST

This intermediate handgun course covers gun safety, dynamic application of marksmanship fundamentals, drawing from a holster (open or concealed carry), shooting while moving, multiple target/multiple distance engagements, introduction to the concept of speed, use of barricades, unconventional shooting positions, non-standard response drills, reload drills, malfunction drills, one-hand shooting drills, strategic thinking/planning and fighting. This all expands on the defensive fighting handgun mindset. The class concludes with a skills test and passing is necessary to advance to next-level courses.

Students in Handgun 201 must be able to stand, crouch, kneel, and move swiftly between firing positions.

A ladies-only version of this course is also available

  • Semi-automatic handgun
  • At least 3 magazines
  • Sturdy holster (open or concealed); NO soft or collapsible holsters (Note: for ladies-only course, you ARE permitted/encouraged to bring concealed carry purses, bellybands, or corset holsters)
  • Mag pouches
  • Eye protection
  • Electronic hearing protection
  • Minimum of 200 rounds of training ammunition
  • Speed loader strongly recommended
  • Note-taking material
  • A desire to learn and develop your skills

PISTOL-MOUNTED OPTICS 2

ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE DEFENSIVE FIGHTING HANDGUN WITH RED DOT PISTOLS

PRICE: $175 | DURATION: 7 HOURS | MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE: 8 | PREREQUISITE: PASSING PISTOL-MOUNTED OPTICS 1 AND HANDGUN 201 SKILLS TESTS

This class covers confirming zero, multiple target/multiple distance engagements, right hand/left hand (RH/LH) shooting, use of high/low barricades, one-hand drills, one-hand weapons manipulation drills, bounding cover-to-cover drills, and multiple fast-n-slow drills to demonstrate extreme proficiency with pistol-mounted optics. This course concludes with a skills test and passing is necessary to attend advanced courses.

Students in this course must be able to stand, crouch, kneel, and move swiftly between firing positions.

AR 101/INTRO TO CARBINES

NEW CARBINE OWNER CLASS

PRICE: $85 | DURATION: 6 HOURS | MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE: 12 | PREREQUISITE: NONE

This class covers an introduction to the carbine weapons platform, features/functions, gun safety, zeroing iron sights, zeroing red dot sights, loading/unloading/reloading, multiple firing positions, multiple target/distance engagements, mechanical offset, gear set-up, use of slings, cleaning, and safe storage.

GEAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Carbine (or “pistol” equivalent), including but not limited to AR-15, AR-9, AK47, AK-9, IWI Tavor, FN SCAR, CZ Scorpion, SIG MPX/MCX
  • At least 3 magazines
  • Mag pouches
  • 1-point or 2-point sling
  • Eye protection
  • Electronic hearing protection
  • Rifle bag or box to safely transport to/from the range
  • Minimum of 100 rounds training ammunition
  • Note-taking material
  • A desire to learn and develop your skills

Our classes help you to become a safer gun owner while also teaching you important shooting techniques. You can also earn your Arizona CCW.
