NFA CONTROLED WEAPONS AND ACCESSORIES

The National Firearms Act (NFA) was passed by congress in 1934. The law is also referred to as Title II of Federal Gun Laws, with the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA) being Title I. This law regulates the sale and transport of certain controlled classes of weapons.

While you do not need a special license as an individual to own these items, you will need to pass a more extensive background check. These weapons and accessories must also be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). NFA regulations also require vendors to follow specific rules in order to sell firearms and accessories covered by this law. As a result of these regulations, NFA-controlled items can be harder to find than other guns. We are proud to carry NFA-controlled items and are always happy to help you find what you are looking for.
NFA-controlled items include:

SHORT-BARRELED RIFLE
(SBRS):

A rifle is a gun typically fired from shoulder level. The barrel has a specific pattern of grooves known as “rifling.” A short-barreled rifle is any firearm that fits the definition of a rifle and has a barrel less than 16 inches long or an overall length under 26 inches. If your weapon has a folding or collapsing stock, the overall length is measured while the stock is in the extended position.

SHORT-BARRELED SHOTGUNS (SBSS):

Like a rifle, a shotgun is typically fired from the shoulder, but has a smooth bore barrel rather than a rifled barrel. This type of gun typically fires spherical pellets known as shot or a solid projectile known as slug. A short-barrel shotgun is any shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches long or an overall length under 26 inches.

MACHINE GUNS:

A machine gun is a type of weapon that is designed to fire repeatedly with a single trigger pull. This can include fully-automatic weapons. However, not all fully-automatic guns are also machine guns. A machine gun must not only fire repeatedly, but must be designed for sustained fire. The term can also apply to burst-fire guns.

SUPPRESSORS (SILENCERS):

The NFA regulates silencers, which is the legal term for suppressors. The ATF, the US Department of Justice, and other regulatory groups use the term “silencer.” However, the term is not wholly accurate, so many gun owners as well as the NRA (National Rifle Association) prefer to use the term “suppressor.” These devices muffle, but do not completely get rid of, the sound of a gunshot. They do this by increasing the space at the end of a gun barrel, making the pressure change following a gunshot more gradual.
